KUALA LUMPUR: As implementers of government policies and initiatives, government officials generally need to be aware of national development progress at both state and federal levels.

Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said there is an overlap in initiatives implemented between these two levels.

“The necessary action should be to complement and improve, especially in areas that are lagging behind in terms of development.

“For example, green economic development is not aligned because the coverage of its implementation varies, resulting in an incomplete support ecosystem,” she said  at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Parliamentary Affairs Strengthening Workshop for the Ministry of Economy here, recently

Hanifah added that people have different demands and needs, which require a more dynamic approach.

“As we can see, Mukah urgently needs a hospital with better facilities and services, while in Kota Marudu, Sabah, there is a significant need for clean water supply,” she added.

However, she did not deny that there are also areas that prefer to maintain their traditional lifestyles, such as in the Orang Asli villages in Kedah.
