MIRI: A tanker carrying 28,000 litres of diesel and petrol (RON95) caught fire while on its way to Miri from Bintulu late Monday at the Miri-Bintulu coastal road.
Fortunately, no one was injured as the 50-year-old driver managed to escape the tanker.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the fire started from the left rear tyres of the tanker.
A team from Batu Niah Bomba were deployed to the scene, located about 51km from the station after receiving a call at 5.50pm and arrived there around 40 minutes later.
The operation started immediately and the team managed to bring the fire under control at 6.50pm and the whole operation ended 10 minutes later.
