HOUSTON: At least one person was killed and multiple people were injured after a vehicle crashed into a hospital’s emergency room (ER) in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday evening, Xinhua quoted media reports.
The vehicle crashed into St David’s North Austin Medical Centre at 5.30 pm local time, the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services said on Facebook.
Officials believe the incident, which has injured 10 to 12 people, was an accident, according to local media KVUE.
Meanwhile, Sputnik reported that at least 10 people have been injured after a vehicle crashed into St David’s North Austin Medical Centre ER.
“Initial triage and treatments underway. #ATCEMS Command reporting 10 patients for transport and one adult patient with CPR in progress. Avoid the area,” the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services posted on Facebook on Tuesday.
According to police, there is no threat to the general public and the incident does not appear to be an intentional act.
“There is no threat to the general public. Based on preliminary information and details gathered, this incident does not appear to be an intentional act,” Austin Police said on X, formerly Twitter.
“APD officers continue to assist our first responder partners, and investigation is ongoing.”
Austin Police Department’s Detective Lieutenant Carey Chaudoir told the Austin American-Statesman newspaper that the driver of the vehicle died, but it was unclear whether the crash caused the driver’s death. – BERNAMA-AGENCIES
