BINTULU: A 10-door workers quarters in an oil palm estate at KM42 Bintulu-Miri Coastal Road near here was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday. 

Bintulu Fire Station chief, Di-Hatta Gobel who led a team of 15 personnel to the scene said the fire occurred at about 12.29pm and the wooden block which has an office was totally destroyed.

He added that a 10-tonne lorry parked near the quarters was also partially damaged.

There were 11 occupants including three children staying at the quarters and no injuries or human casualties were reported.

Di-Hatta said the fire was put out at 3.20pm with the help of five personnel from Samalaju fire station led by Senior Fire Officer II, Pero.

He said the cause of the fire and losses were still under investigation.
