10 fined for breaching Covid-19 SOP

KUCHING: Sarawak police issued 10 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with Covid-19 public place standard operating procedure (SOP).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said three compounds were issued each in Sarikei and Saratok, two in Padawan and one each in Betong and Simunjan.

“On Tuesday (Nov 24), 6,063 vehicles were inspected at 10 roadblocks throughout Kuching District. This brings the total number of vehicles inspected to 114,607.”

No vehicles were ordered to turn back and the number of vehicles ordered to do so, since Nov 9, remains at 613.

The Ministry of Local Government and Housing issued 119 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

On SOP compliance monitoring, enforcement teams inspected 1,366 premises throughout Sarawak.

These included 287 restaurants, supermarkets (140), hawker stalls (34), banks (103), public markets (50), places of worship (55), leisure places (34), government offices (38), construction sites (18), factories (11), and others (596).

Under Ops Benteng, a total of 1,240 vehicles were inspected at seven roadblocks in six districts – two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
