KABONG: The Kabong International Kite Festival 2018 will take place on March 10 and 11 at the Tanjung Kembang Kabong Beach.
This year’s festival is organised following its massive success last year.
International participants from Ukraine, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Austria, China, Australia, South Africa, Brunei Darussalam and Scotland have signed up for the event.
Kabong District Officer, Kamal-udin Haji Alkap said besides international participants, the feedbacks from local enthusiasts had also been encouraging.
“Among activities that will be held at the festival are local products sales/ exhibitions, open karaoke competitions, Bike Autoshow, beach telematch, night festival, tug-of-war competitions between participating countries, poco-poco, ‘Ngambik Gudi’ competition and kite competition/shows, “he said.
“The objective of organising this festival is to introduce the kite traditions to the general public as well as to promote our beach here as one of our state’s tourist destinations.
“By organising such festivals, the locals will be able to utilise them to generate their incomes and to introduce local products to the locals and also foreigners.
“We, as the organisers, are hoping that the locals will use the opportunity during the festival as much as possible and benefit from it,” he said.
In the meantime, the opening ceremony of the Kabong International Kite Festival 2018 will be launched by Kabong State Assemblyman, Mohd Chee Kadir.
