BAU: A sewing course held by Mas Gading Community College (KKMG) attracted 10 single mothers from the Sarawak Single Mothers’ Association (Pitsa) Kampung Haji Baki branch last Thursday (Mar 25).

The programme is one of the short courses offered this month by Pitsa’s Kampung Haji Baki Branch, Kuching under ‘Program Sepanjang Hayat KKMG’.

KKMG director, Nor Dalila Abd Rahman, said the programme focused on single mothers in Bau and Kuching districts to empower and other lower income earners to sharpen their skills in tailoring and business.

“It is hoped that the programme could help the group economically so that they become successful in their businesses,” she said.

Prior to the programme, participants were given a special briefing on the courses offered by KKMG, which include information technology and landscaping for school leavers with Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

Also present during the course opening were KKMG programme coordinator Shirley Phillip and course facilitator Mohammad Fitri Khasidan.
