KUCHING: The Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) held their annual dinner which was attended by more than 100 media practitioners.

It was also attended by Minister of Local Government Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian as the special guest at Carvery Restaurant, Abell Hotel here on Wednesday.

During his speech, Sim reminded local media practitioners to be responsible when carrying out their duties as well as the role that they play as the presenters of news and information to the public.

“Whatever you write can influence the society and because of your position, it is important to use it responsibly.

“We want you to take responsibility, be impartial, and be professional; don’t let emotions overtake you as it will affect the quality of your news and your judgement,” he said.

Sim, who is also the president of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and state assemblyman for Batu Kawah, reminded media practitioners to not use their position for their own personal interest.
