KUCHING: Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) Sarawak became the latest agency in the state to make IBR with the Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) MACC yesterday. Director of LKIM Sarawak, Kusuadi Bin Sallih led about 100 staff LIKM Wilayah 1 (Kuching) and a number of senior officers from throughout Sarawak to make the pledge as well as to sign IBR at a ceremony held at Merdeka Palace Hotel here.
Witnessing the event was state director of MACC Dato’ Badrul Shah. According to Badrul, IBR is an initiative which emphasises on voluntary integrity pledges made by organisation leaders and staff, in their personal capacity.
A total of 33 government departments and agencies in the state including the Sarawak Football Association (FAS) have signed the IBR so far. IBR is one of the initiatives introduced by MACC and the idea was mooted by the its Director –General Datuk Zulkipli Ahmad for officials to distance themselves from any act of corruption when carrying out their jobs.
According to Kusuadi, the Corruption-Free-Pledge for the LKIM Headquarters had been carried out and Sarawak was the third state to have done so and other states will be doing theirs according to the schedule that had been set.
