BINTULU: One hundred recipients consisting of less fortunate individuals from four villages here received food basket donations and porridge as part of the Ramadan Visit programme by Tong Seng Huat (Bintulu) Sdn. Bhd yesterday.

The villages involved were Kampung Sinong, Kampung Dato, Kampung Sebiew and Kampung Masjid.

The donations were presented by Jepak assemblyman, Iskandar Turkee, together with Special Officer to Bintulu MP Steven Kong Kai Seng and Azman Abdul Rahman as well as the branch manager of Tong Seng Huat Bintulu, Tan Song Lin, at the Bintulu District Mosque.

Iskandar, when met, welcomed Tong Seng Huat’s initiative, which he described as providing relief to the affected groups, especially in preparing for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

He urged more companies to organise similar activities to help alleviate expenses and bring joy to them during this holy month.

“We warmly welcome other corporate or private companies to also extend assistance by providing contributions to those in need.

“Hopefully, such contributions will help alleviate their burden and bring cheer to them this Ramadan,” he said.

Touching on the porridge distribution programme, Jepak ADUN said such programmes could foster unity among the multicultural society during Ramadan.

According to him, porridge is among the dishes that have become a tradition nationwide, especially during Ramadan, where both Muslims and non-Muslims eagerly anticipate and enjoy the food distribution.

“So, porridge is not only for Muslims but also for non-Muslims; this shows our harmonious approach regardless of religion and ethnicity, as they experience the blessings of Ramadan, where Muslims are encouraged to give and assist those in need,” he added.

Four hundred packs of porridge were prepared and distributed to villagers in front of the Bintulu District Mosque.
