MIRI: A total of 100 participants from various government agencies and industry sectors attended the Industry-Institution Networking Session organised by Sarawak Skills Miri on March 5.
The objective of the networking session was to bridge the gap between theoretical education and industry needs.
“The diverse array of short courses offered by Sarawak Skills would facilitate the joint objective by the stakeholders to upskill and reskill the workforce in line with the evolving needs of industries.
“The networking session featured distinguished speakers, including Harrison Bangka from HRDCorp Miri Branch and Mohamed Syamsul Bahari Mohamed Rashid from Divestuff International Sdn. Bhd. Lennon Jacob from Sarawak Skills Kuching.
“Indeed, by providing a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange, Sarawak Skills Miri aims to foster enduring partnerships with the government and industries. This paves the way for joint research initiatives, internship opportunities, and curriculum development aligned with industry demands,” Sarawak Skills said in its press release.
Following the networking session, a briefing was conducted by Divestuff International Sdn. Bhd. on the Underwater Welding and Cutting Operations Course.
“Offered at Sarawak Skills Miri, the course is a joint initiative between Divestuff International Sdn. Bhd. and Sarawak Skills Miri.
“Sarawak Skills Miri is the only registered centre with the Department of Skills Development (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran) to offer the practical evaluation component of the Underwater Welding and Cutting Operations Course in Malaysia,” it added.
