SIMANGGANG: About 100 Sri Aman District Council (MDSA) members and shop owners participated in a ‘gotong-royong’(communal work) at Light Industrial Area, Jalan Padri here today.
Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister cum Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis was also on-the-ground to join the group in cleaning works.
The programme was co-organised by Chinese Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Brayun Hilir and MDSA.
The programme’s organising chairperson Kapitan Tay Siaw Chuan explained that the gotong-royong was conducted to nurture the culture of environmental cleanliness and to prevent insect-borne diseases.
Prior to the programme, fogging activities were done in the area a day before by the MDSA environmental health unit led by Environmental Health assistant officer Fiona Bunu Joseph Lepa.
Also present at the event were MDSA mayor Anthony Abell Chendan, assistant administrative officer Regina Giles Senin and Pemanca Lee Siang Hua.
