TATAU: A total of 100 participants, comprising members of the MADANI Community of Tatau District and local residents, registered to join in the Tatau Information Department (JAPEN) Madani 5km run.

Also present during the run Tuesday (June 18) was Kakus assemblyman Datuk Sri John Sikie Tayai.

The programme began with a briefing for the participants by the District Information Officer, Donny Minggu Ling, followed by an aerobics session led by Betty Benjamin.

The flag-off was at 3pm, completed by Sikie, along with the Resident of Bintulu Division, Nyurak Keti, and the District Officer of Tatau, Jabang Juntan.

Hii Ah Chai was the first participant to reach the finish line, clocking a time of 17 minutes, according to a statement on Wednesday (June 19).

The second and third-place finishers, Kong Chiak Kee and Lim Shian Ho, respectively, finished with times of 22 and 25 minutes.

Speaking at the programme, Sikie emphasised that such events are very beneficial as they help improve the health of the local community.

He also congratulated JAPEN Tatau District for successfully organising a programme that benefits everyone.
