MIRI: The Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib yesterday presented cash and gifts to 100 underprivileged persons here.
The event, held at the Miri Gymkhana club, was part of His Excellency’s 83rd birthday celebration.
Accompanying the Taib and Ragad were Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang and members of the state Cabinet.
Taib and wife later proceeded to Miri Pustaka to declare open a ‘Dirgahayu Tuan Yang Terutama’ photo exhibition.
The exhibition featured rarely seen pictures of Taib arranged in chronological order starting from the 60s until the present day.
The exhibition is open to the public until Oct 18.
At the event, Taib also launched a 346-page book entitled ‘The Pillar of Harmony’ by Datuk Jameson Ahip Nawie.
The book is about Taib and his contribution towards the development of the state.
