SIBU: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) will jointly organise Selangau district level Pre-Gawai celebration 2017 to be held at Selangau multi-purpose hall on 20th May at 6.00pm.
According to the organising publicity officer Ngumbang Awit, the celebration dinner would be graced by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun who is also Selangau Member of Parliament as the guest-of-honour.
He said 100 dinner tables would be prepared for the public.
“Per dinner table in conjunction with the celebration is sold at RM300. It will be sold in Selangau parliamentary area comprising Selangau, Siong, Sekuau, Lemai and Arip.”
“Thus, members of the public can obtain the tickets concerned at our representatives in Selangau through Penghulu Jerampang Ratoh, Awang Juing (Siong), Michael Jelani (Sekuau), Penghulu Thomas Jawa (Lemai) and Pemanca Robert Nanta (Arip),” Ngumbang told reporters here yesterday.
Ngumbang told that the theme of the celebration this year is ‘Seati, Segulai, Sejalai’ (United Together in Harmony).
Among the programmes to be held to add merriment to the occasion is the Kumang Gawai beauty contest, lucky draws and sponsoring of songs, he pointed out adding the Kumang Gawai beauty contest would be the event’s highlight. It is open to single ladies only.
According to him, cash prizes of RM1,000, RM700 and RM300 await the three top winners of the beauty contest.
“Those who are not in the top three will not go home empty handed but will receive consolation prizes of RM100 cash each, Ngumbang said.
Closing date for entry to the Kumang contest is 15th May and all participants are required to liaise with Penghulu Thomas Jawa.
Penghulu Jurampang Ratoh is the event’s organising committee’s chairman.
