KUCHING: The international two-day Sustainability and Renewable Energy Forum (SAREF 3.0) will be held on Sept 6 and 7 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
The flagship event of Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), with support from the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication and the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability will focus on regional net-zero initiative, and green energy development solutions.
SEB senior vice president, Contract and Procurement, Yusri Safri said that among the speakers will be Dame Christina Figueres, a key leader and visionary on sustainability and climate action, who played a pivotal role in uniting nearly 200 countries as parties to the Paris Agreement.
“We will also be attracting a lot of players (industry leaders, policymakers and experts from the global energy and sustainability sectors) as well,” he said in a statement after an SEB delegation paid a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg recently.
Some 700 to 1,000 delegates will participate in the forum themed ‘Regional Net Zero and Sustainable Communities, Renewable Energy Development and Interconnections’ which will be officiated by Abang Johari himself.
Also present during the courtesy call were Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi and his deputy Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
