LINGGA: Eleven houses belonging to people in the low-income group (B40) in the Lingga constituency had been restored through the Sarawak government’s Program Pembaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak (PPRMS) last December.
“Each home was given RM15,000 for the repairs.
“In order to apply for this assistance, the applicant must be a single mother, a mualaf (Muslim convert) or asnaf (eligible to receive zakat aid) and owns a dilapidated house,” Batang Lupar MP Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim told the media here recently.
She was visiting the site of the restoration project for Batang Lupar PPRMS.
In addition, Rohani said through the PPRMS, applicants would not have to wait long for their homes to be repaired as it used the concept of gotong-royong to do this.
The recipients of this aid later told reporters that they hoped PPRMS would be continued and expanded.
