KUCHING: A total of 11 independent candidates in Sarawak will be contesting in this 15th general election (GE15).
They are among the total of 92 candidates, who had submitted their nomination papers, to contest in 31 parliamentary seats in the state.
Three independent candidates will be using the key symbol and two independent candidates will be using the tree symbol.
Meanwhile, the remaining independent candidates will be using other symbols such as the chair, book, boat, airplane, and horse.
Kanowit is the most crowded for its parliamentary seat tussle in the state. It will see a five-cornered fight – including three independent candidates contesting, namely, Michael Lias, Dr Elli Luhat and George Chen.
Michael is using the chair symbol while Dr Elli is using the key symbol and George has chosen the book symbol.
Meanwhile, the other independent candidate is Affendi Jeman who will be contesting in the Santubong parliamentary seat using the key symbol.
Dr Alim Impira will be contesting as an independent candidate in the Serian parliamentary seat, and he has also chosen the key symbol.
Datuk Masir Kujat, is defending the Sri Aman seat as an independent candidate. He is using the tree symbol.
Hasbie Satar will contest as an independent candidate using the boat symbol in the Betong parliamentary seat.
Meanwhile, Elly Lawai Ngalai who is contesting as an independent candidate in the Julau parliamentary seat will be using the airplane symbol.
Lanang will also see one independent candidate contesting, namely Datuk Wong Tiing Kiong, who will contest using the horse symbol.
For Selangau seat, it will also see one independent candidate contesting, namely Henry Joseph Usau. He will be using the airplane symbol.
Another independent candidate who will be using the tree symbol is Wilfred Entika. He is standing in the Baram seat.
