KUCHING: Eleven residents were left homeless after their double-storey house was razed to the ground at Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol here this morning (Oct 23).

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the morning blaze as the tenants comprising of seven men, two women and two children, were not present at home during the incident.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Padungan and Batu Lintang stations were despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 9.10am.

Upon arriving, they found that the house was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was promptly carried out.

The flames were brought under control at 9.28am and it was fully put out around 9.55am.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.

Also present at the scene were the police and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SESCO) personnel.
