SIBU: Members of Lions Club Sibu Queensway (LCSQ) visited Kiang Hin primary school in Teku here recently and presented free spectacles to 11 students as part of the Lions International community projects, ‘SightFirst’.
Present to welcome the visitors was the school board of management chairman, Kapitan So Teck Kee.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, So thanked the club for having chosen the school for the caring community project for the benefit of the needy students.
Such caring attitude on the part of the club, he pointed out, will at least reduce the financial burden of the recipients’ families with the contribution.
“Clear vision is crucial for learning. Education is imperative to ensure the child’s bright future as well as production of human capital for the nation’s development and progress,” So further stated.
Meanwhile, LCSQ president, Tony Kiew expressed hope that the recipients would be motivated to strive more diligently in their studies, adding that the contribution might seem small but it has the potential to change a child’s future through education.
Among those present were Lions International District 308-A2 past governors, Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua and Augustine Ngu Liong Ing.
