11 schools in cultural heritage competition

MIRI: Pustaka Miri in collaboration with the State Education Office has been receiving entries to its local cultural heritage competition from secondary schools in this division since March this year. A total of 29 groups from 11 secondary schools in the northern region would present the results of their respective group research and studies, which would be held on Sept 4 at Pustaka Miri.

The competition, themed ‘Sejarah Asal Usul Penempatan Awal di Wilayah Utara Sarawak’, aimed to expose participants to research-based writing. The prize-giving ceremony would be held on Sept 6 from 9.30am to 11.30am at the Auditorium of Sarawak State Library, Miri. Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni is scheduled to give away the prizes and he has pledged a fund worth RM10,000 to the programme.

Among the participating schools are Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang College, SMK SAINS, SMK Lopeng Tengah, SMK Taman Tunku, SMK Riam, SMK Subis, SMK Baru, SMK Temenggong Datuk Lawai Jau, SMK Tinjar, SMK Merapok and SMK Kidurung.
