KUCHING: To excel in studies is every parent’s hope for their children as it indicates that they (children) could go far in their studies and be successful in life.

Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity, Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi explained that in order to achieve their target, parents must ensure that their children have education needs.

“Parents must also play their role in supporting and encouraging their children outside school, especially at home.

“Give extra attention in their education so that they can focus on their studies. Take advantage of the opportunities provided by the government,” said Abdul Rahman in his speech while launching the SK Pulo UPSR Motivation Programme held at Masjid Darul Hana here, recently.

Abdul Rahman, who is also Pantai Damai Assemblyman, reminded the students to follow the footsteps of their seniors who previously excelled in their UPSR.

“Set your mind and determination to succeed in the UPSR, and also at a higher level. At the same time, appreciate the sacrifice of your parents in ensuring your success,” he said.

Abdul Rahman also noted that in order to be successful in the future, one needs to have certain specific skills to command a good income.

“Hopefully, this programme can be fruitful and impact the students. Of course, to be able to excel in studies will provide a better path towards a successful career,” he said.

The SK Pulo UPSR Motivation Programme saw a total of 111 students staying for three days at Yayasan Sarawak.

The programme was meant to provide planning, motivation and encouragement to the Year Six students who are seating for their UPSR this September.

Also present were Kuching District Education Officer, Kamariah Said and SK Pulo Headmaster, Rapaee Sabol.
