KUCHING: Sarawak today recorded 112 new COVID-19 cases, 22 fewer cases compared to the previous day’s 134 cases.
This brought the cumulative total number of cases to 304,820.
In its daily update, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said only two cases were recorded in category 5 involving patients who had lung infection and required ventilators.
Other than that, 45 cases were in category 1 and 65 cases in category 2.
“Kuching recorded the highest number of cases with 31, followed by Sibu and Miri with 20 cases each and Bintulu with 17 cases.
“Four cases each were reported in Kota Samarahan and Serian; three each in Mukah and Limbang; two each in Sri Aman, Bau and Lubok Antu; and one each in Subis, Asajaya, Kapit, Betong, Simunjan, Tebedu, Lawas, Matu and Saratok,” the committee said.
SDMC also revealed that there was one COVID-19 fatality involving a 30-year-old man who had cerebral palsy and passed away at Bau Hospital on Apr 22.
For non-compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs), Kuching police also issued compound notices to four individuals for failing to register the MySejahtera before entering premises.
This brought the total number of compounds issued by Sarawak police to 13,902.
