MIRI: A total of RM791,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds were distributed to 114 associations within the Senadin state constituency on Friday.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, who is also Senadin assemblyman, presided over the simple yet significant ceremony held at the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Senadin branch here.
Due to the large number of associations receiving the funds, the event was divided into two sessions.
“Because there were so many associations receiving the funds, I had to split the presentation ceremony into two sections, This is just the beginning, as there are more than 500 associations in total that will benefit,” he said.
Lee likened the event to a parent providing support to their child, highlighting the importance of aiding local associations to ensure the community’s development and well-being.
The MRP funds are intended to support the various activities and initiatives carried out by these associations, contributing to the social and economic progress of the Senadin constituency.
This disbursement is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to bolster rural development and uplift the living standards of the people. More associations are expected to receive similar assistance in the near future.
