Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee revealed there were a total of 1,261 applications for the inaugural intake of Yayasan Sarawak International School Sarawak (YSISS) in Petra Jaya.
He said 761 of them sat for the examination where 200 students were successfully offered places to study at the international school.
“Now, there are 115 students studying over there and it should be noted that there is another school that will be opened soon with the construction close to 60 per cent completion,” Dr Annuar said in response to Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada.
He added that the total allocation that has been disbursed to repair the infrastructure of schools in Tebedu amounted to RM9.59 million.
“This amount does not include the new construction project of SK Kujang Mawang which will be rebuilt and also the upgrade of SMK Tebakang which is still in the procurement process,” Annuar said.
