MERADONG: A total of 118 household heads at the William Settaun longhouse, which is currently under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) until March 5, have received food basket from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), in a report, said the handing over ceremony of the aid was carried out by Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing on Monday.
The brief programme was organised by the Meradong District Welfare Department and Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPIEM).
In his speech, Ding called on the residents of the longhouse to always cooperate with the frontliners and comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to break the chain of Covid-19 infections.
He also thanked the frontliners, such as the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), who were carrying out fulltime control measures at the longhouse for 14 days.
Also present were Meradong District Officer Badjuri Bidin, Meradong police chief DSP Sekam Anoi, Meradong District Rela officer Sawanluddin, Meradong District Welfare officer Sawan Madil and longhouse chief Tuai Rumah William Settaun.
