SIBU: Several areas here will be facing a 12-hour water supply interruption on Wednesday (June 12) to facilitate connection works for a major pipeline.
The Sibu Water Board (SWB) said the disruption is necessary to connect the 450mm diameter MSCL (mild steel cement lined) main pipe located in front of the Petronas station at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.
“The affected areas include Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, Oya 16, Jalan Undan, Jalan Cendana, and stretches along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman itself, encompassing Lorong Tunku Abdul Rahman 42, Rumah Sebastian, Rafflesia Street, Jade Villa Street, Taman Azalea, Taman Sanhill, Sibu Airport, and Eco Garden,” said SWB in a statement today (June 10).
The water cut will also impact residents residing from Mile 13, Jalan Ulu Oya up to Jalan Sibintek (including the Batu 19 LAS pump booster station), Sibu Jaya, Jalan Durin Link up to Durin Bridge, Jalan Nibong Tada (including the JBALB pump booster station), Taman Kemuyang, Rascom Camp, and Rh Nari to the Sibu/Bintulu traffic light junction.
The disruption will begin at 10 pm.
The contractor will strive to complete the works as swiftly as possible, with water supply resuming progressively in the affected areas.
All consumers are advised to store sufficient water for their needs during this period.
If weather conditions impede progress, the works will be rescheduled for the following day.
