SAMARAHAN: Twelve illegal immigrants were detained in a raid in an operation area controlled by the Third Infantry Brigade of the Malaysian Armed Forces.
An army patrol unit spotted 12 men riding on six motorbikes towards the border to Indonesia through the Rimbunan Hijau palm oil plantation at 6 am today.
The patrol unit ambushed and stopped the 12 men, who were Indonesians aged 24 to 43. All failed to show any legal travel documents to the patrol unit.
The six motorbikes, cash and eight hand phones amounting to RM21,582 were seized.
The men were detained and were handed over to the police at Lundu police station for further investigation and action.
