LUNDU: Twelve residents, consisting of six men, five women and a toddler, were made homeless after four houses caught fire at Jalan Blacksmiths here early today morning.

According to a statement by the Fire and Rescue Department, they received information from an auxiliary fireman pertaining to the blaze around 1.30am.

Firemen from Lundu station were promptly despatched to the scene to douse the fire.

Upon arriving at the scene, the team found that two houses were destroyed while two others were slightly damaged in the fire.

The whole extinguishing operation ended around 4am after the firemen ensured that the flames were completely doused off.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
