KAPIT: A total of 12 needy students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Selirik have received free spectacles under the Lions’ Community Project ‘Eye-Sight First Campaign’.
Senior Assistant of the school, Dr Layang Ugek, on behalf of the students received the twelve pair of glasses from the president of Lions Club Kapit, Mona Akun, at a simple event held in front of the Poh Kiong Optical Shop here on Wednesday afternoon.
On behalf of Lions Club Kapit, Mona thanked the sponsor Teng Mee Hieng, the proprietor of Poh Kiong Optical Shop, for his generosity to donate the spectacles to the needy students. She said that the eye-sight campaign is to help those selected needy students with eyesight problems.
Present to witness the simple handing over of the spectacles were the District Governor Roland Chieng Yew Hee, proprietor of Poh Kiong Optical Shop Teng Mee Hieng, Lion Dr Sia Tih Kiong and the secretary Stanley Ling Bee Chong.
