SIMANGGANG: Twelve teams participated in the procession of Hungry Ghost Festival organised by Sri Aman Moral Uplifting Society Che Chuan Khor held in Simanggang town area.

The three-day procession held from August 14 to 16 was also attended by Simanggang’s assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis as the guest of honour to flag off the programme on Monday (August 15).

Sri Aman Deputy Resident Elvis Didit and director of Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) Richard Lon were invited to strike the gong.

The Hungry Ghost Festival was mainly meant for prayers for the ancestors and the ghosts which do not have heirs.

The society’s president Temenggong Kueh Aik Seng expressed his appreciation to Datuk Francis Harden for being able to attend the programme. The programme was also attended by organising chairman Datuk Law Hee Huat, president of Moral Uplifting Society Ji He Shan She Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Su Ching Lung, president of Moral Uplifting Society Che Kuan Khor, Kapit Tai Yin Kiong and Kapitan Kong Chak Hee.
