The workshop was conducted by State Librarian Edison Ricket who’s attached to the Information Services Department of the library from 10am until noon.

Ricket explained that the programme, targeted at children aged three and below, was implemented in line with the Malaysian Initiative to encourage children to cultivate a reading culture at a young age.

“This programme is limited to 100 participants. It is open to parents and children aged three years and below born in a clinic or hospital in Sarawak,” he said.

“It is compulsory for the guardian of a child to bring the health record of the infant and child (0-6 years old) during the programme.”

Ricket added that the programme introduced parents and their toddlers to the process of early “coding” in education.
