KUCHING: Approximately 120 participants attended the ‘City of Unity’ workshop at the Sarawak State Library here which was jointly organised by Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and 1Malaysia Foundation (Y1M) from 11 to 12 December 2017.
The purpose of the workshop was to increase the momentum of Kuching as a ‘City of Unity’ and act as a platform to plan any initiatives and actions in developing the city. Present at the closing ceremony of the workshop yesterday were the Mayor of DBKU, Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai and Chairman of Y1M, Dr Chandra Muzaffar.
In his speech during the closing ceremony, Muzaffar hoped that the idea of Kuching having one mayor will be considered. “The implementation may face certain challenges but we cannot avoid that as several groups have also brought up the same thing.
“This is something that we cannot put aside and that a committee will be formed to monitor the implementation of this idea,” he said.
