MUKAH: Some 1,200 attended the National Day programme called Wacana Kibar Jalur Gemilang held at SMK Three Rivers here yesterday morning.
They comprised students of the school, teachers, parents and invited guests.
The event was officiated by Mukah District Information Officer, Rosman Bin Zaini. It was the first official programme organised by the District Information Office since he took over the helm of the department about a month ago.
The programme kicked off with the declamation of Poetry `Kita Punya Malaysia’ (written by Rosman himself) and was delivered by a student of the school, Nigrina Nabihah Fitriyah Mohd Fadly.
It was followed by a talk (Bicara Wacana) on the importance of flying the Jalur Gemilang in the concept of `Sayangi Malaysiaku (Love My Malaysia) by Rosman and the singing of Kita Punya Malaysia, Jalur Gemilang and other patriotic songs.
Among those present at the function were the Principal of SMK Three Rivers, Jackson Apong Abit, Penghulu Jaraie Tagasan, representatives from the government agencies, and local community leaders.
