KUCHING: Sarawak registered 1,206 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (March 3) – 1,202 of which are categories 1 and 2.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the other four cases, three had lung infections, while one required the use of a ventilator.
“Kuching registered the most cases with 450, followed by Sibu with 188 and Miri with 166 cases,” it said in its daily Covid-19 update.
SDMC said one backlog death case from Feb 23 was also confirmed on Thursday. It said it involved a 35-year-old man from Sibu.
“The case was a brought-in-dead case. The victim succumbed to the virus after having experienced chronic obstructive lung complications.”
Apart from that, SDMC said a new cluster, dubbed the Lorong Cahaya Maju Cluster, was also detected in Kuching.
The new cluster stemmed from a family residing at Lorong Cahaya Maju, Petra Jaya here.
“Out of 39 individuals screened, 18 people were found to be positive while the rest tested negative.
“Those who have tested positive were placed at Sarawak General Hospital, PKRCs and CACs in the city.”
