KUCHING: 123 Form 5 students of Sekolah Menengah Sains Kuching Utara yesterday received their graduation certificates. Tupong State Assemblyman, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman graced the graduation ceremony held at Sakura Hall of the school at Jalan Matang.
The event also saw a student from Class 5 Galileo 1, Awang Amir Ridhwan Awang Husslan receiving the Principal Award for the year.
Awang Amir represented Malaysia in the Jiangsu Southeast Asia School Network Programme in China in 2016, earned the Gold Award in the Fully Residential Schools International Symposium 2016 at the National Level, came second in the Junior Category of the Writing Challenge 2015 and won the Best Group Johan and Best Presentation during the National Islamic Leadership Challenge 2016.
He was also active in hockey and came second in the SQL 2016 zone and was champion in the Petrajaya Hockey Festival 2017. Besides that, Awang Amir also showed outstanding achievements in the SPM Trial examination of SBP.
In his speech, Fazzrudin advised the students to devise strategies for successful learning until the university level. He also stressed the important role played by their parents in their children’s education.
