KANOWIT: The Civil Defence Force (APM) distributed 1,234 food packages to 216 flood-affected families in Nanga Machan yesterday (Mar 11).

Sibu APM officer Maj Wan Mohd Jabir Wan Mohd Badrudin said a total of 14 longhouses were impacted by the floods, resulting in road access being cut off.

The affected longhouses, namely Rh Shamsudin, Rh Johnathan Gangga, Rh Kendawang, Rh Gramong Tom, Rh Achoi, Rh Bilin, Rh Balieng, Rh Kunying, Rh Maria, Rh Bejau, Rh Bagol, Rh Janin, Rh Turie, and Rh Lanting, received the much-needed aid.

He said the humanitarian effort was a collaborative initiative between Sibu APM, Kanowit APM, and Kanowit Social Welfare Department (JKM) involving 20 personnel.

Using a lorry, a pick-up truck and a car, the distribution began at 10.30 am and ended at 7.30 pm.
