KUCHING: Up until 27 May 2018, 130 compounds have been issued to various food and ice supply premises throughout the state.
This was revealed by State Health Department director Dr Jamilah Hashim during a walkabout at the Kubah Ria Ramadan Bazaar here yesterday.
“Out of that number, 128 compounds were given to food premises whereas 2 were given to ice supply premises.
“Up till 29 May 2018, we have inspected 1,905 food premises and 6 ice supply premises,” she said.
On the event, Jamilah said that it was to meet with the vendors selling food and beverages at the Ramadan bazaar to see if the briefing that they gave has been applied.
“We also want to ensure that the food and beverages sold are safe for consumption and won’t cause food poisoning.
“We started this even before Ramadan whereby we, together with the local government, discussed on locations where stalls can be set up and register those who wish to sell food and beverages there,” she said.
