KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 134 Covid-19 positive cases today, bringing the state’s tally to 7,758 cases.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the state also recorded four Covid-19 related deaths, with two reported in Sibu and one each in Bintulu and Miri.
This brought the total number of fatalities in the state to 73 thus far.
On the breakdown of the positive cases, the committee said 53 cases were recorded in Sibu; 19 in Bintulu; 15 in Kuching; 12 in Kapit; 10 in Samarahan; eight in Song; four in Miri; three in Bukit Mabong; two each in Selangau, Sri Aman and Sebauh plus one each in Bau, Julau, Meradong and Belaga.
SDMC said of the 22 cases in Sibu District, 22 were contacts screened from active case detection (ACD), 14 were from individual screenings, 10 involved the Pasai Cluster, six were from individuals with symptoms and one involved a medical worker at one health facility.
The committee said in Bintulu District, eight cases were contacts screened from ACD, six involved the Rakut Cluster, three were from individual screenings with symptoms, with two cases categorised as local transmissions and one categorised as Import C after being infected from Kapit, while another two were from individual screenings, with one categorised as local transmission and another one as Import C from Miri.
In Kuching District, SDMC said six cases involved Jalan Green Cluster, five were individual screenings, three were contacts screened from ACD, and one case which had just returned from a high-risk area for Covid-19, Kuala Lumpur.
The committee said in Kapit District, eight cases were contacts screened from ACD, two involved the Pasai Cluster and two were from individual screenings with symptoms.
SMDC said of the 10 cases in Samarahan District, five cases involved Univista Cluster, three were contacts screened from ACD and two were from individual screenings.
In Miri District, it said two cases were from individual screenings, one was from individual screening with symptoms, and one involved a medical worker at a health facility.
SDMC said while the eight cases in Song District involved the Pasai Cluster, three cases in Bukit Mabong District involved the Gelong Cluster whereas two cases in Sri Aman District involved the Kejatau Cluster.
It said the two cases in Selangau District were from two individual screenings with symptoms, while two cases in Sebauh District and a single case in Bau District were from ACD.
Further up in Meradong District, SDMC said the single case was from individual screening, and the single case in Julau District involved the Nanga Lijan Cluster.
SDMC said as for the single case in Belaga District, it was from individual screening, and the case was categorised as Import C after getting infected from Bintulu.
On the recovered and discharged cases, the committee said 100 cases had recovered and been discharged from hospitals, with 50 from Sibu Hospital, 15 from quarantine centres under Kapit Hospital, 15 from Miri Hospital, seven each in Bintulu Hospital and Sarikei Hospital and six from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
It said this brought the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 5,579 or 71.91 percent of the total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak.
On the same day, SDMC said there were 2,077 individuals still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the state, namely 1,138 in Sibu Hospital, 297 in Miri Hospital, 206 in quarantine centres under Kapit Hospital, 191 in SGH, 178 in Bintulu Hospital, 49 in Sarikei Hospital, 16 in Sri Aman quarantine centres while one each from Limbang Hospital and Lawas quarantine centre.
The state also recorded 196 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases while five PUIs are still awaiting laboratory results.
