KUCHING: As many as 136 people were conferred various state awards and medals at an investiture ceremony graced by the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud today.
The ceremony started with six of the recipients — Hii Sieh Toh, Pemanca Peter Lai Sakul, Pemanca Lau Oi Phen, Wong Tiong Kee, Musin Radin and Jong Yee Kie receiving the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang, Pingat Bintang Kenyalang (PBK) award.
Another 18 recipients received the Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB) award and among them were Mohamad Khirudin Amdan, Saip Sulong and Rambi Ahmad.
Thirty recipients received the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak, Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS) award including Lau Ing Kung, Kuah Ted Chai and Chu Chin Siang.
Among the 14 recipients of the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak, Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK) award were Syed Hassim Shah Syeed Idrus and Matjin Sumil, while the 14 recipients of the Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) award included Warrant Officer Awang Mahadi Awang Mat and Sergeant Sariffuddin Mohamed.
Meanwhile among the 34 recipients of the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak, Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS) award were Zakaria Saberi Melhi, Awangku Abdul Wahab Mohamad and Mohamad Sahari.
Also present during the ceremony was the wife of Head of State, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib alongside other distinguished guests.
