MOSCOW: Fourteen children became infected with HIV and Hepatitis B and C after blood transfusions at a government hospital in the Indian city of Kanpur, Sputnik quoted the Hindustan Times newspaper report on Monday.
The transfusion was necessary for the children due to their Thalassemia blood disorder, the report said. The newspaper added that the cause of the incident could have been false negative tests for viruses in the transfused blood.
Seven children tested positive for Hepatitis B, five for Hepatitis C and two for HIV, the report said. – BERNAMA-SPUTNIK
