KUCHING: The authorities have issued compounds to five persons after they were caught dining in an eatery here, on Friday.

They were among 14 individuals compounded for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

Kuching recorded the most compounds with six, followed by four in Miri and four in Padawan.

“The violations include dining in an eatery (five); failing to practice physical distancing (four); failing to scan the MySejahtera (two); failure to update the customers’ logbook (two); and failure to prepare a temperature scanner (one).

“This brings the total number of compounds issued since March 18 last year to 6,656,” said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has issued 28 compounds to business operators of premises under the supervision of various local councils.

Bintulu Development Authority recorded the highest compounds with 11; followed by four under Sri Aman District Council; three under Subis District Council; two each under Padawan Municipal Council and Sibu Municipal Council; and one each under Sarikei District Council, Serian District Council, Betong District Council, Meradong and Julau District Council, Matu and Daro District Council and Kota Samarahan Municipal Council.

SDMC added that the businesses were violating SOPs such as failing to enforce wearing face masks (nine); failing to scan the MySejahtera (eight); failing to update the customer logbooks (five); allowing customers to dine in (two); exceeding the employee capacity limit (one); failing to prepare hand sanitiser (one); failing to prepare a temperature scanner (one); and operating past the allowed time (one).

This brings the total amount of compounds issued by local authorities since Feb 1 this year to 665.
