KUCHING: Fourteen homeless people received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine last Sunday (Aug 22).

Sarawak Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Child Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said originally, there were supposed to be 12 left to be vaccinated in Kuching Division but “the number of homeless people tends to change from time to time”.

“This is because during the locating process, those we missed are the ones who moved around from one place to another.

“That is why in each division, we use different modus operandi to suit the situation.

“To date, we have reached 72 per cent successful first dose vaccination for this group,” she said during the vaccination rollout programme for the homeless here on Sunday.

She hoped that those who received their first dose would not forget their second dose so that everyone would be fully vaccinated, including the homeless.

Fatimah also advised them to seek treatment immediately should they experience severe side effects.
