SIBU: A total of 14 teams each representing the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) constituencies in the central zone have competed in the inaugural edition of the Sarawak Central Zone Football League 2022 which begins on Saturday (June 11).

Sarawak Central Zone Football League 2022 is organised by Sibu District Football Club (SDFC) and Nangka State Assembly Service Center (DUN).

The preliminary rounds saw competition in groups involving Group A (N46 Meradong, Forty Three Daro FC, SDFC, Igan FC), Group B (7DSC, Repok STR, Dudong FC,) Group C (Machan FC, Pelawan FC, Bukit Goram, Selangau District FC) and Group D (Fourtynine Ngemah, Landas, Nangka United).

Group A rivals saw M N46 and Forty Three Daro FC tied two equal, while SDFC managed to beat Igan FC with a 4 – 2 result.

7DSC in group B won their first match against Repok STR with 3 goals to 2, while for group C, Machan FC squad managed to thrash Pelawan FC 5 – 0.

Bukit Goram managed to beat Selangau District FC with a score of 5 to 1 for the group C competition, while the match in group D between Landas against Fourtynine Ngemah was won by the Landas team with a score of 5 to 0.

Group level competitions are held on a reciprocal basis (home/away).

Cash prize of RM30,000 along with trophy and medals awaits the champion team. The team that emerges runner-up will receive RM15,000 cash plus trophy and medals.

The two teams that lost in the semi-finals will each receive RM5,000 cash along with trophies and medals as joint third place winners.
