KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 1,418 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Oct 3), pushing the cumulative number of cases to 215,576.
According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), 1,407 or 99.22 percent are Category 1 and 2 cases while 11 or 0.78 percent are Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.
“For Category 1 (no symptoms), there are 352 or 24.82 percent and there are 1,055 or 74.40 percent in Category 2 (mild symptoms).
“There are three or 0.21 percent in Category 3 (lung infections), five or 0.35 percent in Category 4 (lung infection and require oxygen) and three or 0.21 percent in Category 5 (lung infection and require ventilator),” the committee said.
The district of Kuching accounted for 366 of the new cases recorded, Sibu 146; Miri 130; Bintulu 85; Sarikei 80; Bau 72; Samarahan 63; Serian 51; Betong 49; Limbang 42; Lawas and Sri Aman 30 each; Mukah 28; in Pusa and Meradong 27 each; Asajaya 26; Saratok 24; Dalat 21; Simunjan 18; Subis 14; Kapit 11 and Marudi 10 cases.
There were nine cases each in Belaga, Kanowit and Tebedul; eight each in Lundu and Beluru; six in Julau; five in Pakan; four in Kabong; three in Lubok Antu; two each in Bukit Mabong and Telang Usan and one each in Song, Matu and Selangau.
At the same time, the committee announced the end of five clusters, namely, the Semada cluster in Serian, the Nanga Bengap cluster in Lubok Antu, the Simpang Bakun cluster in Bintulu, the Jalan Market cluster in Bau and the Warong Metrocity cluster in Kuching.
“No new case was recorded or reported involving these clusters in the past 28 days.
“Meanwhile, the Bungey 2 cluster recorded 27 new cases. There were four new cases in the Long Urun cluster and one new case in the Sungai Ipoh cluster. The state currently has 102 active clusters,” said the SDMC.
It added on Sunday, there were 75 new persons under surveillance (PUS) while 156,232 PUS had been discharged statewide.
