KUCHING: The marketability rate of graduates from Politeknik Kuching has increased from 81.5 per cent in 2015 to 97.2 per cent in 2017, said the State Federal Secretary Dato’ Mansor Man. “After obtaining their diploma, many graduates start working while a few decide to further their studies at universities both in and out of the country.

“The industry hopes and expects that institutes of higher learning will accommodate their need for a workforce that is qualified, skilful, and knowledgeable,” he said during the 26th Politeknik Kuching Convocation Ceremony at the campus here yesterday. He also advised graduates to better themselves by learning new things and to not stop just because they have received their diplomas. “Graduates have to keep in mind that the knowledge and skills they obtained here will most probably be outdated within time.

“That is why it is important to keep yourselves updated and it’s not an uncommon fact that the world is always progressing and moving forward,” he said. He also urged graduates to expand their knowledge and skill set so that they have an advantage in this highly-competitive world.

“This also enhances your employability to compete with others who are also trying to grab the same employment opportunities. “When you’ve equipped yourselves with the relevant knowledge and skills, you can be integrated into the nation’s development process.

“This enables you to be the driving force behind the nation as well as being able to compete with other countries,” he said. The ceremony saw a total of 1,487 graduates.
