KUCHING: Fifteen errant individuals statewide were slapped with compounds by police for not wearing face masks in public places.

“Five individuals were issued with compounds in Kuching, followed by five in Padawan, three in Samarahan and one each in Betong and Sarikei,” said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee in a statement today.

To date, enforcement teams have monitored 1,537 premises throughout the state. They comprised restaurants (338), supermarkets (178), banks (110), places of worship (72), public markets (83), government offices (63), leisure places (34), hawker stalls (69), factories (8), construction sites (15), and others (567).

Some 951 vehicles were inspected in six “Ops Benteng” roadblocks in five districts, namely two in Lundu, plus one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
