LUNDU: A total of 15 individuals from the Opar constituency received Certificates of Recognition as Sarawak natives, which were presented by its assemblyman, Billy Sujang, recently.
According to Billy, since the application process was opened in 2023, a total of 183 applications have been received and 28 applications have been approved.
He also said that to apply for recognition as a Sarawak native, the applicant must be a Malaysian citizen and a biological child born to at least one Sarawak native parent.
“For applications on behalf of children under 18 years old, they can be made by parents or guardians.
“Applications for recognition as a Sarawak native can be made at any District Office or Sub-District Office in Sarawak by completing the NRS-1 application form,” he said in his speech during the ceremony at Lundu District office here.
For the record, each application is subjected to a fee of RM100.
