KUCHING: Sarawak Health Director Dr Jamilah Hashim today confirmed that from Jan 23 to Feb 14 this year, 12 dengue fever cases were recorded from Jalan Sekama here while three cases were recorded from Jalan Sekama Utara from Feb 11 to Feb 14.
She reminded the public that the fight against dengue fever required the involvement and cooperation of various agencies and the public.
To prevent the spread of the epidemic, she urged all occupants and premises owners in both localities to take steps to prevent the breeding of the aedes mosquitoes.
One of the steps was to destroy potential breeding grounds for the mosquitoes.
Apart from that, Jamilah said homeowners also needed to use mosquito spray around their residential premises to kill the mosquitoes.
They must seek treatment at nearby health clinics immediately if they had fever.
“Any delay could lead to serious incidents and public should always take dengue prevention measures in accordance with the guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health Malaysia by visiting the website at www.myhealth.gov.my or www.infosihat.gov.my,” Jamilah added.
