KUCHING: Fifteen more compounds for Covid-19 related offences were issued to individuals related to the Icom cluster by the Kuching Divisional Health Office today (May 1).
“This brings the cumulative total of compounds involving this cluster to 62,” said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
The Icom cluster was first announced on Apr 22. It involved participants who attended a dinner at a restaurant at CityONE Megamall before moving on to a bistro at Jalan Song on Apr 13.
In addition, the index case also attended a training session at Icom Square on Apr 14.
Apart from that, the committee revealed that the police have also issued compounds to 17 errant individuals — 12 in Kuching, two each in Padawan and Miri and one in Sibu for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“The SOPs violated are failing to register via the MySejahtera application when entering a premises; premises operating without permission; premises operating past the allowed time; not wearing face masks; and visiting premises that operate past the allowed time.
“This brings the total amount of compounds issued since Mar 18 last year to 6,061,” SDMC said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH) has issued 14 compounds to premises under the supervision of various local councils.
They are nine compounds under the Mukah and Dalat District Council and five compounds under Kuching South City Council (MBKS).
The premises were violating offences such as incomplete details in the record books; non-functional temperature readers; failing to practise physical distancing; and operating past the allowed time.
“This brings the total compounds issued by local authorities since Feb 1 this year to 144,” the committee said.
